Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic individual to join our quality control team in Ottawa, Ontario. The internship will last 16 weeks, starting in May 2022.

PanTHERA CryoSolutions is a company that specializes in developing novel cryoprotectants for the preservation of cell and tissue constructs for regenerative medicine and cellular therapy applications. Our patented ice recrystallization inhibitor (IRI) technology exceeds our competitors’ products by providing superior cryoprotection which increases cell recovery and product quality for our customers.

    • Work as a part of an interdisciplinary team to develop, optimize, transfer and validate characterization, in-process and release tests for the manufacturing of ice recrystallization inhibitor-based cryopreservation products.
    • Supports the execution and troubleshooting of analytical assays.
    • Assists in the processing and analysis of data
    • Maintains detailed records of all experiments performed.
    • Articulates and present results to the project team.
    • Ensures QC project deliverables are met on time.
    • Supports the QC Technician in equipment maintenance and calibration.
    • Carries out ongoing lab sampling performing visual, dimensional, mechanical or chemical analyses of in-process materials, raw materials and stability samples.
    • Supports the elaboration and updating of SOP documentation to ensure that our company meets GMP regulations and quality standards.
    • Assist in the development of needed records and standards and maintain accurate and detailed files as required.
    • Participate in the development of product specifications
    • All other duties as assigned.


Because we’re partially funding this position with a wage subsidy the following are absolute requirements:

    • It must be a student enrolled as a full-time or part-time student at a post-secondary education institution in Canada in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) The student needs to be able to provide proof of enrolment before and after the summer internship.
    • A Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or persons to whom refugee protection has been conferred who islegally able to work in Canada according to the laws and regulations of the province or territory where they live


    • A self-motivated team player who is highly enthusiastic about working in the biotechnology industry.
    • Prior laboratory working experience required.
    • Students currently in their 3rd year of undergraduate studies with prior working experience are preferred.
    • Students with experience on analytic testing are preferred.
    • Prior experience analyzing, summarizing & interpreting data is strongly preferred.
    • Effective written and oral communication skills.
    • Focused team-oriented player, with a strong work ethic is required.
    • Enthusiasm to tackle difficult problems, learn new technologies, and work in an exciting, high paced environment is a must.
